Helping Founders Bring Clarity to Complexity
Context
Small businesses account for nearly half of private-sector employment, over 80% of annual net new job creation, and 43.5% of GDP, yet half of all start-ups do not make it to year five. Survival and sustainable growth — especially for those from underrepresented or nontraditional backgrounds — depend on clarity, discipline, and practical guidance.
My Role
As a SCORE volunteer small-business mentor, I advise founders and owners across a wide range of industries and business models. I also serve as an Advisory Board member (a volunteer “Board of Directors” supporting larger, more established businesses). In both roles, I help business leaders step back from immediate pressures, see the bigger picture, and make stronger strategic, operational, and organizational decisions.
What I Do
Across industries, I work with business leaders to diagnose what matters most, reduce noise, and move forward with greater discipline, confidence, and a practical path forward. Bring structure to complexity. Clarify priorities. Sharpen positioning. Pressure-test decisions. Connect near-term actions to longer-term goals.
RESULTS
Clients benefit from greater clarity, better prioritization, and more disciplined execution. More signal. Less noise. Better alignment between goals, resources, and next steps. In some cases, that means a more focused launch. In others, steadier operations, stronger positioning, or firmer foundations for growth. The common thread: tangible progress that helps business owners move forward with more confidence, better judgment, and stronger footing.
IMPACT
Mentoring through SCORE has helped me grow as an advisor and leader. It has broadened my range across industries, business models, and leadership styles while sharpening how I assess unfamiliar situations, identify what matters most, and respond with judgment, structure, and perspective. The experience has also brought things full circle: I turned to SCORE in my own entrepreneurial journey and now have the opportunity to help others in their own.
